Law and Ethics in Psychology: an international perspective
Law and Ethics in Psychology: an international perspective
Description
Psychology has become a truly international profession, but there are still many barriers for psychologists who wish to practise in other jurisdictions. One such barrier is the perceived difference between jurisdictions in the legal ethical principles that underlie the practice of psychology. In reality, the legal and ethical principles regulating the behaviour of psychologists (in English-speaking countries) are substantially similar. This book examines these largely common legal and ethical principles, and applies them to the practice of psychology.” All psychologists need to know about the law and ethics in that pertain to our field but this is not something that is typically taught before you become a psychologist. While you need to learn this after your training, before you do your board exam to get your license to practice, there are very few resources available. Even then, psychologists and other mental health professionals often find themselves in the dark regarding ethical and legal matters with their patients. In addition, the field of psychology is fraught with danger in this regard and psychologists and psychiatrists can easily find themselves in an ethical dilemma.
